Brief of Incident

On 23 Aug 2015, a depth naka party of BOP Kalupota-I (West Bengal) led by 01 SO and two Constables including Constable Govind Singh laid depth naka opposite  BP No. 4/15-s. The area of  the BOP was inundated with numbers of fish ponds. At about 2245 hrs, approx 15-20 dhoor/cattle smugglers were noticed, the party challenged them to stop and surrender but they did not pay any heed. Then naka party with the help of neighbouring ACP party, encircled them and apprehended 13 BD nationals.  At 2315 hrs, during re-organization, Constable Govind Singh was found missing and was recovered from one of the water bodies during search. He was immediately evacuated to nearest govt hospital at Bashirhat, where he was declared brought dead.

An extremely disciplined and committed soldier,Constable Govind Singh will always be remembered for his outstanding performance by the Nation.
